Letter from Executive Director, Ron Walker

Dear Educator and Advocate,

I am writing to encourage you to become a member of the Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color (COSEBOC).

COSEBOC is a nationwide network dedicated to the affirmative social, emotional, cultural, and academic development of boys and young men of color. Our members share our vision of mutual support and inspiration, and they are passionate in their advocacy of transformational change in the lives of all students, especially boys and young men of color. Your decision to join COSEBOC will underscore your own commitment to change.

We believe that by expanding school leaders’ knowledge, skills and understanding through projects like our research-based COSEBOC Standards, the Uncommon Core (recognized as the gold standard of best practices) educators will be better able to build the strong learning environments that drive achievement for boys and young men of color.

I am pleased to announce that we are launching an updated and expanded set of member benefits to better meet the needs of our network in the 21st  century and in our rapidly changing world. Our new benefits take advantage of technologies. Members may now join us for webinars with well-known speakers, learn from our online workshops, or exchange ideas on our Twitter feed.

Be aware that we have not forsaken our old favorites! We will continue to offer members discounted registration to the Annual Gathering of Leaders, as well as discounted professional development workshop fees for school and district members. We will also still provide COSEBOC Standards, the Uncommon Core, now updated in its 4th edition.

Become a member of the COSBOC network because membership matters! For more information on these and other opportunities, and for a description of membership levels, please visit our membership page.
